I recently began re-reading a very old copy I have of a biography of Francois Fenelon and came across something that really spoke to me. The quote is in the introduction of the book.
"Consider your life as a perpetual perishing and lift up your mind to God above all whenever the clock strikes, saying, 'God, I adore your eternal being. I am happy that my being should perish every moment so that every moment it may render homage to your eternity.'"
.........Jean-Jacques Olier.

I have been blessed to have come across your blog. I think this is an wonderful post. I believe we must surrender everything in order to be a true disciple. I believe have lost the sense of true surrender. We need in our world as minister to preach and teach our people the importance of it.

Thank you, Preacherman, I really appreciate your comment, it is very encouraging.
Yes, and this is surely the only way we shed the pseudo-life and find the true life, our true life in our Lord. A radical surrender that is ongoing. And I think will require fresh and new surrenders along the way. Or the continuation of strong conscious surrender as we encounter our weakness and propensity to want to turn back.
And that this is all a reminder that God is God, and we are ever dependent on him for sustenance and grace.
Thanks, Desert Pilgrim, for sharing this with us.
Ted's new post on our heart launguage speaks volumes on this topic and hits right to the point!
